Impedance Modeling for Mixed Conductors with Simultaneous Insertion & Electrocatalytic Reactions: A Case Study of Transition-Metal Hydroxides in Aqueous Electrolyte

نویسندگان

چکیده

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is commonly used to investigate the kinetics of mixed ionic–electronic conductor (MIEC) electrodes. Across various applications, MIECs exhibit ionic (e.g., insertion) and/or electronic electrocatalytic) charge transfer reactions at electrode/electrolyte interface. Bulk storage and transport carriers also couple with these interfacial reactions. Here, we build a generalized, physics-based model for an ion-blocking current collector explore how bulk resistance, chemical capacitance, DC polarization affect response. Using transition metal hydroxides as case study, provide guidance on extracting reaction or resistance from Nyquist plots in interface- bulk-controlled conditions, respectively. Generalizing our EIS analysis enables robust MIEC diverse set systems.

Impedance spectra of mixed conductors: a 2D study of ceria.

In this paper we develop an analytical framework for the study of electrochemical impedance of mixed ionic and electronic conductors (MIEC). The framework is based on non-equilibrium thermodynamics and it features the coupling of electrochemical reactions, surface transport and bulk transport processes. We utilize this work to analyze two-dimensional systems relevant for fuel cell science via t...

Modeling Viscosity of Aqueous and Mixed-Solvent Electrolyte Solutions

A comprehensive model has been developed for calculating the viscosity of aqueous or mixed-solvent electrolyte systems ranging from dilute solutions to fused salts. The model incorporates a mixing rule for calculating the viscosity of solvent mixtures and a method for predicting the effect of finite electrolyte concentrations. The mixing rule represents the viscosity of multicomponent solvent m...
